 History

In December 1991, National Chung Cheng University established the Adult Education Center as a means of serving the local community and promoting lifelong learning. As the University expanded and evolved, in April 1995, the Center was renamed the Adult and Continuing Education Center, to serve the school's endeavors in promoting research, teaching and continuing education. In May 2000, the Center was renamed Ching-Jiang Lifelong Learning Center to commemorate Dr. Lin Ching-Jiang, the first President of the University, for his contributions to the promotion of lifelong learning

With the advancement and progress of information and educational technology, e-learning is gradually becoming the new mode of learning. In January 2002, to welcome the age of e-learning, National Chung Cheng University established the Internet Learning Studio, under the Audio-Visual Center, to solve the problems of multimedia design technologies and meet the requirements necessary for professional platforms. Then, in August 2004, the Internet Learning Studio was reformed as the e-Learning Center, to support the design of on-campus e-learning programs, and focus on on-the-job training, and continuing education. In the same year, "Cyber CCU" was launched, and was approved by the Ministry of Education to offer three e-learning programs at the Master's level: "Information and Communications Engineering," "Professional Teaching Development," and "Accounting, Information and Law."

In December 2008, as part of National Chung Cheng University’s reorganization, the Center expanded to integrate e-learning and lifelong learning, when the e-Learning Center and the Ching-Jiang Lifelong Learning Center combined their resources to become the Ching-Jiang Learning Center, with three divisions: Continuing Education, e-Learning, and Learning Systems.

The Ching-Jiang Learning Center was established to honor National Chung Cheng University's first president, Dr. Lin Ching-Jiang, and his promotion of lifelong learning to all citizens. Located on Shixian Road in Chiayi City, the Center provides a diversity in learning to people from young to old, with the hope to "Learn, Change and Empower."
